Well, that happened. Apparently, Cyberpunk 2077 became the biggest PlayStation game flop this year and Sony had enough of all the noise from its players. The company announced that Cyberpunk 2077 is being removed from the PlayStation Store and owners of the game will have a chance to request refunds.
While the game is no longer obtainable on PlayStation Store, there are still ways to get it. If you have a physical copy laying around somewhere, check its price on eBay, you might soon get rich. The game will also still be playable for everyone who bought it previously, meaning that only newcomers won’t get a chance to check out the Night City.
If you’re among unhappy PlayStation gamers, you can ask for a refund for the game. After a few days of uncertainty, Sony itself confirmed that refunds will be issued for everyone who requests it. However, upon refunding, you won’t be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on your PlayStation anytime soon.
Here’s an official statement by Sony:
“SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.
Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund. Please note that completion of the refund may vary based on your payment method and financial institution.”
For now, it’s relatively hard to say whether this removal will be permanent or Sony decided to wait for a patch or two until the game will be better. “Until further notice” suggests that there’s still hope for CD Projekt Red. However, not often Sony decides to remove the game from their store entirely. Even Anthem wasn’t that bad… While we didn’t play the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 ourselves, we heard that many deem it unplayable.
