During the last couple of days, there was quite a buzz surrounding Respawn Entertainment. Creators of Titanfall and Titanfall 2 have been teasing to reveal a new game this Monday, saying that it will be a free-to-play battle-royale type of game set in Titanfall universe. And so Apex Legends have been revealed.
Apex Legends, as promised, is set in Titanfall universe following the conclusion of the latest game in the series. The game is currently set on one map which holds up to 60 players distributed in teams of 3. As you might have expected, Apex Legends follows the traditional battle royale style, where you have to gather loot and try to survive as long as possible.
However, the game has a unique twist too. Players can pick between 8 different ‘Legends’ to play – each with unique abilities and playstyle. Additionally, similarly to Overwatch, each Legend has its own ultimate ability that charges up slowly as the game goes on. Furthermore, Respawn Entertainment mentioned that more Legends are coming to the game in the near future.
And future seems to shine in bright colors for Apex Legends. While its biggest opponent on the market Fortnite is going strong, Respawn Entertainment’s creation is off to a dream start. In the first 8 hours alone the game has gathered over 1 million unique players who tried the game for the first time. While it’s free-to-play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, Apex legends are monetized by microtransactions offering cosmetic upgrades.
