Fans of strategy games definitely know the name of Creative Assembly. Their legendary Total War game series is regarded as one of the best in its genre. While some of us still play Total War: Three Kingdoms, the developers are already gearing up for the new chapter in the saga which will allow us to live through another historical event depicted in Homer’s Iliad.

For those who didn’t know, Total War Saga is the new initiative by Creative Assembly to create games about specific historical events instead of focusing on an entire era. The first attempt to do this came in the form of Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia which was set in the times when Vikings invaded the British Isles. While it had some quirks it was a nice change of pace compared to other Total War series games, so we expect the new one to do even better.

As stated in the game description, A Total War Saga: TROY will allow players to experience Bronze-Age Mediterranean and the legendary twenty-year conflict between the kingdoms of Troy and Mycenaean Greece, known as the Trojan War in its entirety with an option to play on both sides of the conflict.

Players will be to play as one of eight iconic heroes of the time. The team behind the title also promises to feature a more mythical side of this historic event by including “mythical units”. However, these units won’t be straight up magical – Creative Assembly will do their own interpretations on myths trying to represent them as authentically as possible, in a form that eventually grew into a legend. A Total War Saga: TROY will also add in a new gameplay element called Gods and Favor, which will allow you to select a God and earn specific benefits to your troops.

From what we gathered so far, the new game seems to be a lot of fun and will definitely please some mythology nerds. While we still don’t have an exact release date, Creative Assembly expects to launch TROY sometime in 2020 for PC.
