Blizzard’s Overwatch kicks off 2019 with a new special event. Ana’s Bastet Challenge will last through January 21st and is based on the new short story by Blizzard, called Bastet. As always, the event introduces some special cosmetic rewards.
During Ana’s Bastet Challenge, on top of the usual loot box rewards, players will be able to earn new icon (after winning 3 games), new victory pose (after winning 6 games), and new Bastet Ana skin (after winning 9 games). Additionally, you can earn some extra sprays watching promoted Twitch streams during the event.
The new update also brings fresh Overwatch League skins into the game. For 100 OWL tokens, players will be able to snag a skin for their favorite hero with Atlanta Reign, Chengdu Hunters, Guangzhou Charge, Hangzhou Spark, Paris Eternal, Toronto Defiant, Vancouver Titans, or Washington Justice colors. The new season kicks off on February 14.
It’s worth mentioning that the Bastet short story, on which the new event is based, has also caused some waves on the internet. The story reveals that one of the major game characters Soldier 76 is gay. This makes him the third queer character in Overwatch fiction in addition to Zarya and Tracer.
