We’ve been speculating about this almost over two weeks ago and now it’s finally official! While we were wrong about the date, the fact stays – Apex Legends will launch on the Nintendo Switch console on March 9th.
According to the information provided, Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch had to take some shortcuts in order to work properly. This version of the game was developed by Panic Button, a studio that created Nintendo Switch ports for Doom, Wolfenstein II, and Warframe. The studio itself says that Apex Legends on Switch features plenty of “smart optimizations” and players should expect “full feature parity” compared to other Apex Legends versions.
Back when we first heard rumors about Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch, we had doubts that Apex Legends players on Nintendo Switch will have an option to play with players on PC, or other console players. Well, turns out we were wrong – Panic Button said that including cross-platform multiplayer is one of the team’s goals and that’s why the game is coming out only in March instead of February like previously speculated.
Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch will kick off with the same Season 8 version and for a limited time will offer players a chance to earn double XP, alongside the first 30 levels and all associated rewards if you decide to purchase Season 8 Battle Pass. That means that even though Nintendo Switch players will start playing late, they’ll be able to catch up with the rest of the community fairly quickly.
