While some fans were hoping for something similar for quite a while, we were surprised by such a sudden announcement. Apparently, Netflix is developing a new live-action TV series based on the popular Assassin’s Creed game series. While the project still lacks some details that will be interesting to fans, we already received a brief trailer showing Assassin’s Creed logo combined with Netflix’s.
Here it is:
The only news so far is that the new show will be produced by Jason Altman who is known for his work with Mythic Quest and Danielle Kreinik, Ubisoft’s TV boss. Fans are speculating that the Netflix adaptation might take a similar path as Assassin’s Creed movie with Michael Fassbender – suggesting fans an original narrative that fits into the canon of the franchise. For now, we just don’t know.
To be completely honest, there’s only a matter of time until Ubisoft starts to bombard streaming services with their products. A few months ago we heard about plans to create an animated Splinter Cell series, there’s also a Watch Dogs movie in the works. And now this. We’re happy about the announcement but slightly concerned if it will live up to its name since the Assassin’s Creed adaptation for the silver screen wasn’t very good. We can only hope that the second attempt will be better.
