This week marks another major update for Battlefield 5. The new update called Lightning Strikes will be free and introduce many new additions to the game. A chunk of new content will feature three game modes, new weapons, skins and much more. You can check it out in the trailer below.
One of the new game modes is called Squad Conquest. It’s a more condensed version of an already existing Conquest mode which will involve two squads per team. The developer hopes that Squad Conquest will expand the game with smaller scale battles and feature more tactical map variants of the existing map pool.
Another fresh game mode will launch in February. Combined Arms is a brand new co-op mode that should feature 4-player co-op missions, however, more details are yet to be revealed.
Lightning Strikes content update will also introduce the Rush game mode, which was very popular in previous Battlefield games. This game mode pitches players from two teams against each other, taking turns in attacking and defending.
As for new weapons, there are three very welcomed additions of the era. The medic class will be able to test ZK-383 SMG, assault class extends their arsenal with Modele 1944 semi-automatic rifle, while supports will be able to take down opponents with M 1922 MMG. New weapons will be unlockable through completing weekly challenges.
Lastly, Lightning Strikes will feature a lot of bug fixes. The full list of new features can be found in update documentation prepared by DICE.
