While the release of Borderlands 3 comes ever closer, the game’s predecessor Borderlands 2 still boasts huge player numbers. This week, Take-Two confirmed that the game still has a huge community of players – more than a million unique users play Borderlands 2 every month.
It’s an impressive achievement considering that Borderlands 2 was released in 2012. To this date, Borderland 2 is the most successful series entry which sold over 20 million copies. More to that, Take-Two also confirmed that the entire Borderlands franchize recently surpassed 43 million copies sold!
Of course, this number includes the original Borderlands and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. However, it’s not clear if 43 million copies milestone was reached counting games developed by third-party studios such as Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands or Borderlands Legends developed for mobile.
Yet again, we should soon expect these numbers to grow even larger. Recently Take-Two released Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition which is surely creeping into the top sellers’ list. Additionally, after the announcement of Borderlands 3, the previous Borderlands titles got a massive increase in sales.
Borderlands 3 is releasing on September 13th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While you wait, check out other Borderlands games on Eneba.
