Even some weeks prior to the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, fans of the franchise were speculating a lot about the possible battle royale game mode similar to the one featured in Call of Duty: Balck Ops 4. Back then, Infinity Ward remained silent as a grave – only revealing features that were coming with CoD: MW launch. But now, a few weeks after the initial release we can finally talk some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Royale.

The new leak posted by Reddit user Senescallo features a new massive map that apparently is designed for battle royale mode. The map features Ground War maps and Spec Ops maps within its boundaries which gives it a lot of credibility for being real and not a fanmade mash-up. Here are some pictures.

In addition, the leaker found some default battle royale settings which indicates that the new battle royale map will allow up to 200 players and will feature Solos, Duos, and 4-player squads. Furthermore, there’s an option to get respawn after you are killed in the mode. Eliminated players will be sent to someplace called “Gulag”, there you’ll get a chance to battle someone 1 on 1 and if you come out on top you’ll get a respawn. Oh… and other Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players will be able to place their bets and earn something called Consolation Plunder while waiting for their turn to fight in “Gulag”.

Plunder in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale can be earned in other ways as well. One notable option to earn a better Consolation Plunder is to do special Missions. These can be looted in-game and can give various tasks such as eliminating certain players, visiting a special place on the map, looting something and so on.

And that’s just the leaked bits about the new battle royale mode. From what we gather – it’s gonna be massive and will feature plenty of other things – fans of the game already talking about loot rarity, inventory space, base building, and even zombies. Some of these might be a big pile of crap, but you’ll never know. We’ll just have to wait a bit and see what Activision has in store. The leak suggests that the new battle royale mode should be revealed in early 2020.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and features cross-play.
