Most of us know Creative Assembly as a Total War developer. However, a few years back the studio released the hugely popular first-person survival horror game Alien: Isolation. It seems that now Creative Assembly is ready to return to the FPS genre. A new job posting on the studio’s website hints that the developer is currently working on a hero-based shooter.
The new job posting is titled “Lead Hero Designer – New IP” which might mean that Creative Assembly can be working on a game similar to Overwatch or Apex Legends. The role description reads:
Creative Assembly’s award-winning team behind Alien: Isolation are exploring new frontiers with a brand-new and exciting First-Person Tactical Shooter IP.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced games designer to join us as a Lead Hero Designer on the project creating a ground-breaking FPS.
The priority will be ensuring the development of exciting playable characters, with a range of amazing thought and play provoking specialities, as well providing guidance on visual design and cosmetics. A broad understanding of monetization, rewards and art production will be enormously helpful in the success of this role.
This role will see the successful candidate working in a mixed discipline team, made up of world-class concept artists, character artists, designers, writers, animators and coders.
Only time will tell what Creative Assembly has in store. The role description is a bit vague to draw any conclusions. However, previously the developer proved that it knows how to make a quality FPS game.
