If you’re a fan of narrative-driven games, you know the name of Quantic Dream. This is a company that made a lot of critically acclaimed adventure games such as Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and the most recent one – Detroit: Become Human. Not so long ago, the studio decided to release all of their games on the PC platform (previously all of their games were PlayStation exclusives) which helped to boost sales and reach some new milestones. Last week, Quantic Dream managed to surpass a big milestone with Detroit: Become Human. According to the statement from the developers, the game has sold over 5 million copies.
Of course, this number accumulates all the copies sold since original Detroit: Become Human Human release on PlayStation 4 in May 2018. However, the PC release played a major role in achieving this milestone.
In a special statement, Quantic Dream’s co-CEO and publishing head Guillaume de Fondaumière said that the recent Steam release has been a delightful experience for the company.
“The response we’re seeing has been incredibly positive, in particular in Asian markets. We are also thrilled by the response garnered by the concomitant release of our Community Play extension for streamers and viewers on Twitch, which elevated a fundamentally single-player game into a social experience.”
This might mean that in the future all of Quantic Dream’s games will be released on PC. While adventure games are usually more popular on consoles, the PC market also has some adventure gaming fans.
