There were a lot of rumors about new Blizzard projects prior to BlizzConline. Blizzard fans were hopeful to get some news about the upcoming and long-rumored Diablo 2 remake and Blizzard listened. During the opening ceremony Blizzard revealed Diablo 2 Resurrected – a 3D remake of Blizzard’s classic RPG. The game should be released sometime this year for PC and consoles.

According to the news, the game will be a faithful remaster of the original Diablo 2 and its DLC Lord of Destruction. The developers said that Diablo 2 Resurrected won’t be just a simple graphics upgrade but a full-fledged remake in a 3D environment. In case you didn’t know, the original game was made of 2D sprites while the remake will utilize 3D models and environments. However, if you’ll want to experience the game in its original form, there will be an option to toggle the original graphics.
Moreover, the new version of the game will be playable in 4K resolution. Diablo 2 Resurrected team also said that 27 minutes of the game’s cutscenes were upgraded too. Lastly, the game will feature an entirely new sound system – 7.1 Dolby Surround – for better immersion.

Diablo 2 Resurrected will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. Blizzard said that the game will feature cross-progression across different platforms.
