Dragon Ball is a big franchise and we have some numbers to prove it. The latest fighting video game based on the popular anime recently surpassed an impressive milestone. According to the numbers provided by Bandai Namco, Dragon Ball FighterZ sold over 5 million units making it the best Dragon Ball Z fighting game of all time.
As usual, the news was shared via Twitter where the publisher bragged about their player base.
No need to say that it’s an impressive number of sales, even for a game that was released on all the current platforms – PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. However, you should keep in mind that Dragon Ball FighterZ doesn’t feature any cross-play between any of these.
In case you lived under a rock, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a fighting game that was released back in 2018. If features many original characters from the Dragon Ball anime… And not just that – these characters are voiced by the original anime voice actors giving the game even more authenticity and charm. Moreover, the developers are constantly updating the game’s roster and, with current season 3 in full swing, more characters are being brought up to the spotlight.
Our guess is that 5 million units sold are just a steppingstone for Bandai Namco and Dragon Ball FighterZ. There are still a lot of famous characters missing in the game’s roster, while the game still feels fresh when played, even after 2 years in the market.
