We can’t say that we weren’t anticipating the success of Ghost of Tsushima but we couldn’t imagine how successful it will be. Turns out, Ghost of Tsushima is the most successful original IP for PS4! On Twitter, PlayStation announced that Ghost of Tsushima sold more than 2,4 million units in its first 3 days, making it the best PS4 debut ever.
Of course, Ghost of Tsushima is still some way off to the biggest PlayStation 4 titles such as The Last of Us, God of War, Uncharted, and so on. PlayStation 4’s fastest-selling first-party original IP debut title is a bit long but essentially it means that Ghost of Tsushima sold better than other PS exclusives such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Dreams or any other new game that debuted on PS4.
In any case, this is only the start. Breaking records 3 days in is nothing new to the new original PlayStation title. However, we should keep in mind that certain physical stores already announced about Ghost of Tsushima being sold out. This could indicate that more records might be broken at a later date. Also, keep in mind that Ghost of Tsushima will also be released on PlayStation 5 at a later date. This means that we could have another legendary PlayStation IP being established right before our eyes.
