Xbox finally announced its free games line-up for October. No surprise that some of these games are horror titles. Hey, Halloween is almost here! During October Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to play Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut, Maid of Sker, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, and Costume Quest.
Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut
Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut is a killer puzzle game where you control a character named Skullface, paying homage to 80s slasher horror movies. Its adorable graphics and over 300 different levels will keep you busy for quite a while. The game was originally released on PC back in 2016 and received a lot of praise. Butcher’s Cut adds even more content, making it a great pick for your Halloween-themed collection. The game will be available from October 1st until October 31st.
Maid of Sker
This game is a fresh one. Maid of Sker is a classical first-person survival horror title that was released this past July. While it wasn’t very popular at launch, we’re sure that its popularity will grow as time goes by. Spooky atmosphere, great graphics, and familiar gameplay – what more could you ask for this Halloween? The game will be available from October 16th until November 15th.
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
As always, there are a couple of old games available to those who haven’t yet upgraded their console. Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is an original Xbox title that will be available for everyone through backward compatibility. It’s a third-person action-adventure game inspired by the mythology of Ancient Egypt. While ‘cursed mummy’ sounds like something from a horror genre, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is not a horror game by any means. Great story, compelling characters, and interesting puzzles will be a suitable addition if you’re looking for a game to play with your younger family members. Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy will be available from October 1st until October 15th.
Costume Quest
Looking for some ideas for your Halloween costume? Costume Quest will help you out! This game is literally all about this awesome holiday where players have to create their costumes and go trick-or-treating. Costume Quest features engaging turn-based battles and is a perfect pick for everyone looking for something different. You will be able to download Costume Quest from October 16th to October 31st. As always, it will be available on older Xbox consoles and through backward compatibility.
