Every year, one of the biggest events dedicated to game developers Game Developers Conference (GDC) is organized together with Independent Games Festival (IGF). In case you’ve lived under a rock for the past 21 years, the IGF awards honor the most influential, innovative and acclaimed projects in indie game development. Last week organizers announced awards finalists.
There are several award categories such as Excellence In Visual Art, Excellence In Audio, Excellence In Design, Excellence In Narrative, Best Student Game, the Nuovo (award for innovation) and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. Each category winner secures several thousand dollars worth of cash prize, with 30,000 dollars going to the Grand Prize winner.
Among the award nominees, there are a few that have received nominations in multiple categories, including most-nominated title Return of the Obra Dinn. Furthermore, each category nominees go along with some honorable mentions which can be found on the Independent Games Festival site.
