Yesterday, during the official reveal of the iPhone 12, Apple showed its new device capabilities using a mobile version of League of Legends. Some fans might recall League of Legends: Wild Rift announcement by Riot games a bit earlier this year. After months of closed alpha testing in various regions, League of Legends: Wild Rift seems ready for the masses.

While at a glance the game is fairly similar to the PC version of the game, League of Legends: Wild Rift has a lot of changes to accommodate itself in the mobile market. First and foremost, there are new controls adapted for a twin-stick movement, a revamped game engine, and more. It’s also worth noting that while the game looks similar, you shouldn’t expect cross-play of any kind. It’s still an entirely new game!

During the iPhone 12 presentation, Michael Chow, an Executive Producer over at Riot Games said the iPhone 12, in conjunction with 5G internet, makes this the “perfect time to bring League to iOS.” According to him, the new device will be able to offer greater graphical fidelity and more FPS which is always nice. It’s also worth noting that iPhone 12 will have a better battery, meaning that it will last longer before being drained out by playing long League of Legends games.

For a while now, Riot Games were running a closed alpha test in some Pacific countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan) and swiftly expanded in other regions (this week Riot Games added Middle East countries to the list as well). The signs show that the testing phase is going smoothly, so developers decided to give an update about the game’s release.

While during Apple event fans still didn’t get an official release date, it was said that League of Legends: Wild Rift should be available for everyone by the end of 2020. And by ‘everyone” we mean everyone – the game will also be available on the latest Android devices as well.
