Nintendo revealed a very welcome surprise. One more gaming icon joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s character roster and it’s none other than Minecraft’s Steve. The news about this was revealed by Nintendo yesterday and as soon as this went live Twitter stuttered…
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players were eagerly waiting to see the next DLC fighter for the upcoming Fighters Pass Vol. 2, and now it’s official. Steve is yet another Xbox-owned character that’s being added to the popular fighting game. Here’s a trailer:
While we didn’t get many details about the mechanics of the new characters, we hope to learn more this weekend. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that on October 3rd there will be a special presentation during the Minecraft Live event called Fighting With Steve and Alex.
Apparently, the team had a lot of work to do in order to implement Steve and not break the existing game. According to Masahiro Sakurai, the developer team had to go back through each of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s stages and remake them to allow players to place blocks and do other required work in order to suit Steve’s play style.
This might also mean that with Minecraft’s Steve, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will get a new dimension of gameplay. Other characters will be able to break blocks, meaning that they can also break stages if the developer wishes to implement that sort of thing. Fun times ahead…
If you’ve never played Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, be sure to give it a try. It’s a wonderful fighting game that currently holds a record of being the biggest game crossover ever. And we have a great price for it!
