Speculation time is now over and it’s time for some real news about the next Call of Duty game. Yesterday, Activision finally unveiled their first actual game trailer and spilled the beans about certain details coming to the game this year. Yes, you read it right – Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will launch this year, on November 13 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. According to the news, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in the works.
The video kicks off with a few shots and scenes from the 1968 Vietnam war that kicks off the story of the campaign and “lights the fuse” for a bigger conflict which we’ll be a part of. In the video, we can see some familiar Black Ops characters such as Frank Woods and Jason Hudson talking to President Reagan who gives a green light to yet another set of Black Ops operations. It feels like we’re getting back to the roots of the Black Ops series and that’s super exciting for many players.
The official description states:
โWelcome to the brink.
The iconic Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – the direct sequel to Call of Duty Black Ops, the original that started it all.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will drop players into the depths of the Cold Warโs volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. In a gripping single-player Campaign, players will descend into the dark center of a global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason, and Hudson, as well as a new cast of operatives to stop a plot decades in the making.
Beyond the Campaign, Black Ops Cold War will deliver the next generation of Multiplayer and Zombies experiences, beginning with the Worldwide Multiplayer Reveal on September 9.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War arrives on November 13, 2020.โ
In addition, it’s worth noting that the game will get an Open Beta build, meaning that everyone who pre-orders the game will get a chance to play it prior to its release. The trailer notes that Open Beta will first start on PlayStation 4. Those who pre-order the game will also get some goodies for Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone – there’s a new operator Woods and a new themed weapon blueprint.
