Believe it or not, there’s another Mortal Kombat movie project in the works. A few months back we wrote about Warner Bros. working on a new Mortal Kombat live-action movie which should reboot the 1995s franchise. However, prior to that, we’re getting an animated movie called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge.
The news about this new animated movie was picked up by The Hollywood Reporter and according to the article, it should come out in June. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will be produced by Jim Krieg which is known for Batman: Gotham by Gaslight and Rick Morales who also produced Batman vs Two-Face. Additionally, Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios is credited as a creative consultant.
Some of the voice actors for the upcoming animated movie have also been announced. Patrick Seitz will voice Scorpion which won’t be his first time trying this role. He voiced the iconic fighter from hell in Mortal Kombat X game. There’s also Joel McHale who will voice Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter will become Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues will lend his voice to Liu Kang, Steve Blum will become Sub-Zero, and David B. Mitchell will feature as Raiden.
Lastly, we should note the director – Ethan Spaulding which is known for his work on Batman: Assault on Arkham, and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. Both of these animated movies were well received so we’re hoping that Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will share the same fate. The new movie script is written by Jeremy Adams (Supernatural) who, according to the news, adapted the video game story.
