Halo: Reach (December 3rd)
The legendary sci-fi FPS franchise from the Xbox is making a return to PC with the first game from Halo: The Master Chief Collection – Halo: Reach – releasing on December 3rd. Aside from spin-offs, the last mainline Halo game PC gamers could enjoy was Halo 2 which was released exclusively for Windows Vista, way back in 2007. Now the franchise is making a return to the platform with Halo: Reach being one of the upcoming video games. December 2019 will start off with the last Halo game made by the original developers of the series – Bungie.
Newcomers to the franchise shouldn’t be discouraged as the Halo: Reach is a prequel to the series and serves as a perfect starting point. Even though the game belongs to The Master Chief Collection, Halo: Reach stars a Spartan soldier Noble Six as he or she tries to defend planet Reach along with the rest Noble Team, against a massive Covenant invasion. Phoenix Point (December 3rd)
After a September release delay, the spiritual successor to original XCOM, Phoenix Point will finally release with the rest of upcoming video games (December 2019). The game’s development is being supervised by one of the co-creators of the XCOM franchise – Julian Gollop – along with the Snapshot Games studios. Just like XCOM games, Phoenix Point will also be a science fiction themed turn-based strategy game.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future of the year 2047, which inspired by Lovecraftian horror. Pandoravirus, an infection of extraterrestrial origin, released upon the world through the melting of the planet’s ice caps. Mutant life forms are terrorizing humanity and it’s up for the Phoenix Project to stop them! The enemy will mutate according to the player’s tactics giving the game an unpredictable edge and high replay value.
Darksiders Genesis (December 5th)
The latest Darksiders franchise installment is among upcoming video games (December 2019). Developers of Airship Syndicate and publishers of THQ Nordic will present Darksiders Genesis, a game that will serve both as a spin-off and as a prequel to the series. Newest Darksiders game is going to be a Diablo-style hack n’ slash action title experienced from an isometric perspective and it will also have a strong focus on cooperative gameplay.
The story circles around an apocalyptic horseman named Strife as he carries out orders from the Charred Council to destroy Lucifer – a dangerous and deceptive king of demons. Detroit: Become Human (December 12th)
Upcoming video games (December 2019) will also include another ambitious PC port from consoles. This time around it’s the PC port from PlayStation 4: a cinematic and melodramatic cyberpunk game with interactive storytelling – Detroit: Become Human. The game was developed by Quantic Dream, creators behind such notable PS4 titles like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Fahrenheit among multiple other interactive dramas.
Just as the title implies, the game is set in a dystopian cyberpunk version of Detroit in the year 2038. Human-like androids are treated as disposable modern slaves who also face discrimination from society for taking jobs. Choose between three distinct campaigns which explore themes of racism and ethical implications of android technology (no pun intended).
Desperados III (December 31st)
Among the upcoming video games (December 2019) is the third installment in Western-themed real-time tactics and stealth game series – Desperados III. Developed by Mimimi Productions and published by THQ Nordic, Desperados III will serve as a prequel to a beloved 2001 classic Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive. The narrative-driven game will explore the origin story of infamous John Cooper and the formation of his gang.
The player will control multiple characters with unique abilities. The game will include a variety of missions taking place between Mexico and the USA in the year 1870. There aren’t too many Western titles among the upcoming video games.
