EA finally unveiled a new Need for Speed game! Need for Speed Heat will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this November and it’s being developed by Ghost Games, a studio who worked on 2013s Need for Speed Rivals, 2015s Need for Speed, and 2017s Need for Speed Payback. Here’s the trailer:
According to EA, the new game “deepens and expands everything Need for Speed fans love – expressive customization, authentic urban car culture, and an immersive narrative that pulls you into the game.”
While the statement doesn’t reveal much, it’s safe to assume that Need for Speed Heat will be way bigger than its predecessors. From what we gather, the gameplay will stay true to an arcade feel of street racing and will give plenty of options for vehicle customization.
It’s also worth noting that EA promised to ditch loot box mechanics from the upcoming game. EAs community manager Ben Walke went on Reddit and answered some of the questions from the community. He posted:
“Coming into the reveal one of the things we agreed we would detail is the monetization options, no loot boxes, car packs, etc. No scapegoat here” and added “We plan to have post-launch paid-DLC in the form of car packs. Later this year we’ll introduce a time-save pack, which will show all the collectibles on the map.”
Need for Speed Heat should launch on November 8th across all platforms. However, it’s worth mentioning that EA Access and Origin Access Basic members will be able to play it earlier – for members – a free 10-hour long trail of the game is starting on November 5th.
