No. It’s not Half-Life 3, so the famous meme is still viable. However, in a surprise reveal, Valve has unveiled a continuation of the famous video game series with the new virtual reality game called Half-Life: Alyx. And that’s pretty much everything we know so far…
According to a Tweet, Valve will be revealing more details about the new Half-Life game a bit later in a week but some conclusions can be drawn a bit prematurely. C’mon, it’s a new Half-Life title, so please – indulge us… Alyx Vance is, of course, Gordon Freeman’s companion in Half-Life 2 and two of its additional episodes. The last time we’ve seen this character was the end of Half-Life 2: Episode Two where we left Alyx Vance to mourn for her father Eli. It was in the year 2007, so we can expect Valve to pick up where they left off 15 years ago and conclude the story.
As mentioned above, Half-Life: Alyx is a VR exclusive title, so not everyone will be able to play it. According to an announcement, it will be out on Steam VR (HTC Vive), but we’re hoping that it will also support Oculus devices.
However, it’s worth mentioning that the reveal of a new Half-Life title was a bit underwhelming since there were some premature leaks about the game. The leaks suggested that we might get Half-Life 2: Episode 3 announcement but they proved to be slightly wrong. Then, other leaks suggested that the new Half-Life game should be announced during The Game Awards ceremony hosted by Geoff Keighley – these too were a lie. However, one leaked fact is still to be confirmed or denied – the launch window for the new game is March 2020. We hope this one is true. We’ll have to wait until Thursday to gather all the information.
