We’re getting a bunch of new Mario-themed games coming our way. In a surprise Nintendo Direct stream, Nintendo revealed a number of huge new projects related to our favorite plumber. We’re getting a number of Switch ports in a form of Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection that brings Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy to Nintendo Switch. However, arguably the biggest announcement was the new Super Mario Bros. 35 game – a 35-player battle-royale in Super Mario Bros.
As the description states, Super Mario Bros. 35 is a competitive 35-player online battle where the last Mario standing wins. Players have to run through courses as fast as they possibly can but there’s a twist. Every enemy you defeat is sent to other player screens, meaning that they have more enemies to deal with. Of course, on the flip side, you get your opponent’s enemies if you lag behind.
Super Mario Bros. 35 will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online users. This means that if you want to play this game you’ll have to have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Another thing worth a separate mention is the game’s release window. Apparently the game will become available on October 1st, however, it will be accessible for a limited time until March 31st, 2021. This might be an experiment by Nintendo or this date could mean that Super Mario Bros. 35 will only be a timed exclusive. For now, we’re not sure…
