Hello Games crew are not done with No Man’s Sky just yet. Yesterday, the studio released a new video showing off the latest game update called No Man’s Sky Desolation, which will enable players to explore abandoned spaceships and freighters throughout the cosmos.
Here’s a trailer:
The video gives out clear horror-themed vibes with a piece of tense music and dark themes all around. As Hello Games puts it: rich with loot but dark and dangerous. And each one different. Tread carefully, traveler.
According to the notes, each of the freighters will be procedurally generated making each venture into the unknown truly unique. Different freighters will have their own story of what happened to the crew – rogue security systems, biological experiments went wrong, and so on. Hello Games don’t want to put forward all their cards so you’re in for a few surprises… Moreso, while exploring the haunted spaceships you will find numerous clues of what is going on inside each vessel – various items, logs, and journals. It’s hard to say whether we’ll get to see and fight any hostile aliens or other enemies, but the possibility is here.
However, abandoned freighters won’t be the only addition to the game coming with No Man’s Sky Desolation. While exploring these abandoned freighters, you will collect various loot which later can be used to upgrade your own spaceship. According to Hello Games, players will get some new customization options – an ability to change color schemes is one of them.
As it always is with a new update, No Man’s Sky Desolation will bring a lot of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and so on. If you’re interested in learning more about it prior to your first play session, be sure to check out the official patch notes here.
The update will be free to everyone who already owns the game. If you want to join in exploring the new chapter of No Man’s Sky, be sure to check out our price for the title.
