Fans of the Ratchet & Clank series have been eagerly waiting for some more news about the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Yesterday, developers from Insomniac Games finally revealed the official release date for this upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive. Apparently, the next Ratchet & Clank adventure will begin on June 11th.
While originally Insomniac Games planned to release this game during PS5’s launch window, the game was delayed due to console shortage. Rumor has it that Sony is trying to hold off its major game releases until more consoles will reach customer’s homes. Having in mind that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is PS5 exclusive, releasing it now would definitely hurt its sales.
We should also point out a very interesting coincidence you might’ve missed. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was originally announced on June 11th, 2020, meaning that the game will be released exactly one year after its initial reveal.
The game will have two versions – the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition. The latter will feature some bonus Raritanium (a currency to upgrade the game’s weapons), some unique armor sets, and a sticker pack for the game’s photo mode. We can also expect to get the game’s soundtrack and digital art book as well.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is now available for pre-order on PlayStation Store. If you decide to purchase this game early you’ll get some fancy pre-order bonuses including Carbonox Armor (first seen in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando) and a Pixelizer shotgun (from 2016s Ratchet & Clank).
If Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart seems like a game you wish to try, be sure to snag it from PS Store early. Currently, we have a lot of PlayStation gift cards for every PSN region out there, so you can pick one up with a discount.
