In 2010 we got an unexpected videogame hit – a cute beat ’em up called Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game. For many fans, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World always associated with a comic book series about Scott who tries to win over the love of his life by fighting bad guys. The comics implement a variety of game-like storytelling mechanics, so it was only a matter of time ’till somebody decided to make a game adaptation.
However, while the game was a success and got a few DLCs after its launch, nowadays many of the past issues are very irritating. That is why Ubisoft decided to re-release the game, make it suitable for current generation gamers, and celebrate its 10th anniversary. Now we got a new launch date! Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game will be re-released on January 14th.
The new version of the game will include all of the previously released content including the DLC – the Knives Chau and Wallace Wells Add-On Packs. It will also feature all-new local co-op and online multiplayer modes allowing you to team up with up to 3 other friends and play through the game’s story or test your skills and reactions in a series of new mini-games. There are also some new multiplayer modes such as Zombie Hordes, Dodgeball, and Battle Royale.
According to Ubisoft, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game’s new version will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia. However, it’s fairly safe to assume that at some point we’ll get PS5 and Xbox Series X versions too.
If by some chance you’ve never heard about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and want to familiarize yourself with this awesome saga, you can check out the comics. If you’re not into reading, there’s also a 2010s movie of the same name that was praised by many as one of the best movies tied to video game culture. In fact, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World made our list of the best video-game movies of all time we did some time ago.
