It’s been a very long wait for the fans of Shenmue series. Shenmue 3 crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter was introduced back in 2015. The game quickly reached its goal of 2 million dollars and was set to launch for late 2017, but was delayed for 2018. Then Shenmue 3 was delayed again for 2019 August, and now we’re reporting its third and (hopefully) final delay. The game should be released on November 19th.
A recent Kickstarter announcement posted by the creator Tu Suzuki and games’ publisher Deep Silver notes that the game is near complete. It just needs a bit of time for the refinement. The post reads:
Hello Everyone,
Today, Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver would like to give a message concerning the release date.
Shenmue III will now release on 19th November 2019.
[before] August 27, 2019
[new] November 19, 2019
Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished.
We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!
We thank you for your patience and understanding,
Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver
Over the course of 4 years, Shenmue 3 managed to raise over 7 million dollars for the game. Add some more from investors such as Sony and you have yourself a true AAA class budget. We can only hope that such amount was well-spent and the game is definitely worth the wait. We can manage three additional months in order to enjoy the highest quality product, can’t we?
Shenmue 3 will be released for PC and PlayStation 4.
