Back in the day, we wrote an article about Capcom working on yet another movie based on their game. Monster Hunter movie was in development for a few years now and is scheduled to be released this December. Last week we finally got to see how it’s looking…
Here’s an official teaser:
If it’s the first time you hear about this project, you should know that the movie is being directed by Mortal Kombat’s and Resident Evil’s Paul W.S. Anderson. It also features a familiar face in the leading role – Milla Jovovich will assume the role of Lt. Artemis.
You would think that this star-power would be enough to accumulate hype around the movie but the teaser did the opposite. Currently, the teaser has a lot of dislikes and it’s not hard to see why. From the trailer, it’s hard to tie in the Monster Hunter game as we know it with the upcoming movie and the fans clearly are not happy about this. No oversized swords, bow staffs, and other things fans of the franchise come to expect from Monster Hunter.
However, it’s just a single scene… We might still expect that the US army will realize that their regular combat weapons are useless against these beasts.
The official description states this:
“Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity.
When an unexpected sandstorm transports Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures.
As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.”
So yeah. Don’t start judging this movie just yet. We might still get what we were expecting in the first place. And if not there’s always games you can go back to…
