How was your Christmas? Ours was full of magic. By that, we mean that we played a lot of Magic: The Gathering in order to prepare for some new game updates which will be coming in less than one month. The latest card set is called Theros: Beyond Death and should be released sometime in January on MTG: Arena and physical card format. To tease the fans, Wizards of the Coast decided to drop some teasers.
The first card of the new set is called Klothys, God of Destiny seems to be very powerful. It costs only 3 mana (red, green, and generic) and for that, you’ll get 4/5 creature with some awesome abilities. Klothys, God of Destiny is indestructible. It also doesn’t count as a creature if you have less than 7 of red and green mana. Lastly, the new card is armed with the ability to exile cards from the graveyard and should be a serious counter to all cards with the new Escape mechanic, and a great tool to fuel your moves if you’re exiling land cards.
However, it’s only the first card of the new set and for now, it’s too early to say how it will fit in. However, we already know that Escape will be a big keyword in Theros: Beyond Death, so Kolthys, God of Destiny might be one of the most desired additions to the green and red decks during this expansion cycle.
Magic: The Gathering’s Theros: Beyond Death set releases January 24, 2020. The expansion will land on MTG: Arena a few days prior to global physical launch.
