The Forza franchise is one of the most iconic in the racing game genre, its developers, Playground Games are, a household name that keeps on providing some of the best racing titles in modern gaming! The franchise can also be split into two – Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport. Both of them are racing games, yet offer rather different experiences, with Motorsport being more simulation-like, while Horizon offers arcade racing experiences as well! Forza Horizon 4 is the newest game and may just be the most outstanding one in the franchise to date, offering up quite an amazing experience in the world of both arcade and simulation racing, providing nearly no limits regarding the things you can do in the game!

Massive open world
That’s right, instead of popping in and out of races, you get to traverse a vast open world and explore the world where the races take place. The area that you get to play in is scattered all across the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, and Wales! The environment is beautiful and holds many different hidden gems as well! Look for barns in Forza Horizon 4, they may hold a treasure you might not expect to find! Barns usually hold some broken-down cars that you can fix up and take on the road. These are not some scrawny old buckets either, you will be able to get your hands on some absolute classics and even new sports cars, simply by getting them from barns!
There are pretty much no limits when it comes to going off-road as well, no matter what you’re driving. Although it must be said, some are better at it than others! Most obstacles in your way are nothing more than light disturbances in Forza Horizon 4. You will be able to knock down stone rails, small trees and many other things in your way, so you can make your way through fields, swamps, even forests, all in your incredibly powerful vehicle!
Changing seasons
For the first time in the franchise, you will be able to experience all four seasons in a Forza game, all of which are very different and change the driving conditions drastically! The seasons change every week in the open world, with a countdown always handy to remind how long is it before the next season comes to Forza Horizon 4! However, if you like certain conditions more than others, you can always create custom races and invite your friends to join in, choosing the season by yourself!
Come winter, the roads are covered in snow and ice, making them extremely slippery and hard to get around on. If you want to go off-road, not all vehicles are going to cut it during the winter! When spring comes, the snow and ice melt, making the area wet and muddy, which is great for racing buggies or other off-road vehicles! The fall season is very similar – a haven for off-roaders, although both spring and fall allow for some quality track racing in Forza Horizon 4! Come summertime, the conditions are prime for speeding down the track, as the roads are dry, and the grip is good! This season is built for speed, so why not get behind the wheel of a supercar and press the gas pedal down to the floor and watch the speed gauge rise!
Loads of customization
Driving a stock car is frowned upon in this game, so make sure you don’t make that mistake! Don’t be fooled by a Volvo 850R speeding past you in your Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari LaFerrari, or any other supercar you may choose to drive! In Forza Horizon 4 it is more important to tune the performance of your vehicle than changing the way it looks! The possibilities of such tuning are nearly endless, allowing you to change pretty much every little bit that has any effect on the performance, from the obvious things such as engines and suspensions to the less obvious – tire width, car height and more!
It is not all about having more power here, as raw power is useless if a car does not handle well or slips off the read on the first sharp turn. You have to become somewhat like a car scientist in Forza Horizon 4, trying out every trick in the book in order to turn your car into a marvel of performance, leading you to dominate the races!
Of course, you get the ability to customize the looks of your cars in order for them to look as good as they drive! Put on custom paintwork, change up the body parts, put on some neat rims and hit the road! You can spend endless hours of gaming without actually sitting behind the wheel of a car, trying to tune your vehicle to perfection in Forza Horizon 4!
Online gameplay!
Last, but not least, the game has complete online compatibility! Every little thing you would be able to do in the offline mode, you can also do online, in servers that can fit more than 70 players at once! Racing games have always been a lot more fun when you have the chance to compete against other players from all around the world! This poses a much greater challenge to the player, making each victory that much sweeter!
When all of the things mentioned above are combined into one, the result is one of the best games of its genre, and Forza Horizon 4 is just that! There is simply no denying the fact that it is a game that is well worth the attention it’s been getting! One thing is for sure – the world of racing games would be much less exciting if it wasn’t for Playground Games and the Forza franchise! Lucky for us, they show no signs of stopping yet!
