There are few ways to get gamers on board with a new game. The most common one is the traditional marketing which tries to hype up the community before the release of the game. The second one is giving players a chance to try the game and let it speak for itself. The developers behind Yooka-Laylee sequel, Playtonic decided to use the latter option and will allow you to try their new game in a special demo.
According to the announcement, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair demo will be an extensive one. It won’t have a time limit and all the progress done within this version will carry over to the full game if you decide to buy it. By playing the demo you’ll be able to explore “an assortment of vibrant and exciting 2D levels”, transform the terrain in Pagie Challenge, try a level state change, sample tonics and give the Impossible Lair a try. Not bad for a free version, huh?
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is out now and its demo will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch a bit later. PC players will get it on January 23rd while PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch fans can expect it to arrive on January 30th. Xbox One version is still pending…
If you’ve never heard about Yooka-Laylee, you should know that it’s a colorful platforming adventure that is inspired by games like Banjo-Kazooie or Donkey Kong Country. However, its sequel, the Impossible Lair, ditches 3D platforming and focuses on side-scrolling action. Here’s the trailer if you wish to learn more:
