ASUS Releases ZenScreen Duo OLED MQ149CD

ASUS have released the latest product in its ZenScreen range, the Duo OLED MQ149CD. With its portable, unique design, the MQ149CD weighs in at a slim 1.07kg and measures a compact 14 inches when folded.

True to its name, the ZenScreen Duo features two screens that, once unfolded, have an onscreen area equivalent to a typical 20-inch monitor. It’s also designed with a 360° hinge, meaning the monitors can be set up in a variety of ways.

One unique example is what ASUS calls “Tent mode.” According to the company press release, this allows “the two displays [to] face opposite directions, allowing for convenient one-to-one presentations.”

Plug-And-Play Convenience

Players who like to game-on-the-go can make use of the MQ149CD’s plug-and-play capability. It features two USB-C ports and a Mini HDMI port, meaning it accepts a variety of peripherals, as well as allows users to extend or duplicate a display across both screens.

This makes it possible for gamers to plug in a Switch (for example) and go head-to-head in a two-player game.

Multiple Screen Configurations

The ZenScreen Duo can be used in Split, Independent, Mirror and Extended modes. Split mode can display information onscreen in a waterfall manner, which can lend itself well to coding or reading lengthy documents. Independent lets users plug in two separate sources for each screen, which can be ideal for multitasking across two devices.

Mirror mode is unique to the MQ149CD as it displays the same info on both screens, while Extended mode lets users expand their original screen to ease workflow and cross-referencing.

Additional Technical Specs

The MQ149CD features dual 14″ OLED panels, each with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1200 resolution. Both screens include Delta E <2 color accuracy, cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 gamut, plus DisplayHDR True Black certification. This ZenScreen Duo is also ENERGY STAR-certified, ensuring energy efficient usage.

Thanks to a built-in quarter-inch screw thread tripod socket, the ASUS ZenScreen Duo OLED MQ149CD integrated fold-out kickstand is just as versatile as the device itself. Users can easily prop the dual monitors in landscape or portrait orientation, ensuring a workflow or gameplay session that fits their needs.
