3DClouds Set Sail With Pirate Adventure Trident’s Tale

Italian studio 3DClouds’ swashbuckling third-person pirate adventure Trident’s Tale will be released on all major platforms in May, 2025. Set in a colorful world of magic, robots and skeleton pirates, players assume the role of Ocean, an aspiring buccaneer, as she builds up a crew and goes on escapades across a sprawling open world.

Designed to appeal to young and old gamers, Trident’s Tale offers between 10-15 hours of main single-player campaign action, with plenty of dark dungeons, distinct islands, and mysteries to uncover.

“Any fans of pirates will have a blast in our game with a compelling 15+ hour story-driven campaign, a massive open world to explore, compelling sword and gun combat, lots of crafting and customization opportunities and, my personal favorite, naval combat with challenging mythical monsters to vanquish and a fully dynamic weather system,” said Franceso Bruschi, CEO of 3DClouds

Avast, Ye Scurvy Dogs

It’s not just the Pirates of The Caribbean movies that get to call dibs on undead pirates and tropical locales. Trident’s Tale takes inspiration from the Caribbean for its open world of exotic lands, and makes sure the player has to face plenty of spooky skeleton pirates.

As Ocean, players can also experience dynamic naval battles against other pirates and sea monsters. It’s also possible to customize Ocean’s ship and build up a crew of colorful characters, including a robot and a friendly skeleton.

A Passion For Pirates

While 3DClouds have released games in partnership with noted companies in the past, including Paw Patrol Grand Prix for Nickelodeon, and Hot Wheels Monster Trucks: Stunt Mayhem for Mattel, Trident’s Tale is based on the company’s own IP.

“Trident’s Tale has been a labour of love for our 60 person studio,” Brusschi said.

The game is entirely self-funded and self-published. It isn’t the first time the studio has tackled pirates, though, as 3DClouds were behind King of Seas, published by Team 17 in May, 2021.

Trident’s Tale is the thirteenth title from Italy’s biggest and most prolific video game development studios. 3DClouds is based near Milan and includes veterans from Microsoft and Milestone.
