NetEase Teases FragPunk Ahead of Release With New Trailer

FragPunk is a new 5v5 hero shooter by Chinese technology and gaming company, NetEase, planned to premier on March 6, 2025 on PC and consoles. With less than a week to go, NetEase has published a new trailer to drum up interest for the upcoming first season.
The 5v5 shooter will allow players to use the power of Shard Cards to break the rules of the game, including physics, debuffs, and attacks. There will also be a wide variety of weapons and Lancer powers to choose from to ensure that no two matches are the same.
Regarding the game’s future roadmap, Xin Chang, Creative Director and Producer at Bad Guitar Studio, working together with NetEase on FragPunk, revealed that the game will operate on a seasonal basis.
“Each season will last for four months and be divided into two chapters, each lasting two months. With the launch of each new chapter, the team will introduce new Lancers, fresh Shard Cards, and, possibly, exciting gameplay modes,” Chang said in a press release and added: “Additionally, each new season will feature brand-new maps to enhance the gaming experience.”
Season 1: Wild Dawn
The first FragPunk season will include over 150 Shard Cards with different abilities, 13 Lancer powers, and seven maps to duke it out against other teams. Shard Cards can be combined or used with Lancer powers to create game breaking effects and turn the tide of any battle.
In the latest trailer, some of these game-breaking effects, like warping behind enemies with Dimensional Travel, is on full display.
Casual Game Modes
Players who wish to take a break from the hectic 5v5 battles will find that “casual” game modes in FragPunk means surviving hordes of zombies, one-shot-one-kill, sniper death matches, and melee bouts where only knives are allowed.
More modes, Shard Cards, Lancer powers, weapons and characters will likely be introduced in future seasons of the game.
