Marvel Rivals Ranks in 2025: All Tiers, Rewards & Strategies

This guide explains Marvel Rivals ranks and provides a clear insight into how to play the game. In Marvel Rivals, players compete in a structured competitive mode, defined by a series of divisions, from Bronze to the highest rack achievable.

We review tips for winning competitive matches and improving your Marvel Rivals competitive ranks. We also go over different aspects of the game and different strategies for climbing up the ladder.

All Marvel Rivals Competitive Ranks

Marvel Rivals competitive ranks

Marvel Rivals has 9 competitive ranks. All players start off at Bronze and then progress through Silver, Gold, Platinium, Diamond, Grandmaster, and Celestial. After Celestial, the tiering system goes away and is instead replaced by points, with the top 500 players getting the One Above All rank, and all others are in the Celestial tier instead.

Here’s a look at all the ranks in the game, alongside what you can expect from each of them as you rank up.

1. Bronze

The Bronze rank acts as the entry-level stage for competitive play, divided into Bronze III, Bronze II, and Bronze I. In Bronze, players learn the basics of hero mechanics, map awareness, and game objectives.

Typically, advancement here is about improving fundamental skills, understanding your role within a team, and managing the flow of battle.

2. Silver

Once players move through the basics, they advance to Silver (Silver III, Silver II, and Silver I). At this point, the focus moves towards consistency and coordination. Silver players tend to polish their strategies and execute more team-based maneuvers.

Typically, getting successful in Silver primarily comes from effective communication and a growing ability to adapt mid-match.

3. Gold

Gold is a major milestone, segmented into Gold III, Gold II, and Gold I, and is a significant leap in competitive play. In Gold, players tend to showcase a stronger idea of advanced tactics, and understand timing and positioning much better.

Milestones in this tier not only represent individual skill improvement but a greater understand of how to work with other teammates. Reaching Gold is also important from a rewards standpoint, as it unlocks exclusive skins that serve as a badge of honor.

4. Platinum

The Platinum rank (Platinum III, Platinum II, Platinum I) brings quite a dramatic increase in competition. At this level, players are more disciplined, with redefined decision-making skills and a better understanding of the game’s dynamics.

Matches typically become a lot more strategic, and smaller mistakes feel a lot more costly. Players at this rank need to coordinate with teammates and anticipate enemy strategies.

5. Diamond

The Diamond rank, (Diamond III, Diamond II, Diamond I) is where the margin for error shrinks pretty dramatically. Players at this rank are expected to have great mechanics, excellent reaction times, and an understanding of tactics.

6. Grandmaster

Grandmaster is divided into Grandmaster III, Grandmaster II, and Grandmaster I. It represents the elite level of Marvel Rivals. You not only require mechanical skill at this rank, but also great strategic insight and outstanding team leadership.

Grandmaster players often make decisive calls and can turn the tide of a match. Their gameplay is typically marked by high consistency and the ability to perform under extreme pressure.

7. Celestial

The Celestial tier is the last rank which has tiers, divided between Celestial III, Celestial II, and Celestial I. While Celestial players can shine individually, they are also expected to contribute significantly to coordinated team play. At this point, the game starts getting quite serious especially when working with players in adjacent ranks.

8. Eternity

The Eternity rank is the penultimate tier. This rank has no tiers, and not competing for a while at this rank has you losing rank points and will probably lead to a rank demotion. At this point, you start competing with one of the best players in the game. So, obviously teamplay and individual mechanical skill alongside a little bit of luck is needed to get here.

9. One Above All

The highest rank in the game has no tiers and is reserved for the top 500 players in the community. At this point, it is not based on specific regions, which might change. These are players who have the highest rank points out of anyone else in the game. This means that these players can keep gaining more rank points infinitely, with the top 500 retaining the rank.

Not playing in this rank consistently will severely impact your points, and will cause demotion pretty quickly alongside rank decay. Plus you get to have the highest rank achieved in Marvel Rivals competitive mode!

Marvel Rivals Divisions

In Marvel Rivals, competitive progression for each rank is further segmented into three divisions. These divisions, Divisions 3, Division 2, and Division 1, serve as milestones within each rank.

Division 3 is the starting point of any rank, matches in Division 3 tend to have a lot more variety in their gameplay, as players have just moved up a rank.

In Division 2, you tend to either see hard-stuck players who are stuck in the same rank or others who are just passing by. This typically is the hardest division to pass through for any rank, just because players tend to stagnate in the middle.

Reaching Division 1 typically marks players who are just about to move to another rank. They’re usually very refined, and players tend to be a lot more try-hardy at this stage since they’d like to move up a division.

With all that said, Divisions don’t really matter in terms of competition, it is the ranks that truly define your gameplay. To maximize your progression, be sure to check out the Marvel Rivals Battle Pass. It is a great way to earn exclusive rewards as you level up in the game.

How Does Progression Work in Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals uses a point-based progression system that determines your rank and facilitates your movement throughout these divisions. Each match you play will impact your total points, which govern your journey from Bronze Division 3 up to the high tiers.

Because of this system, players are continuously challenged to improve their gameplay. Ultimately, the Elo-style system for all the top ranks contributes to a dynamic and competitive ladder. Because of this system, everyone is continuously challenged to improve their gameplay in competitive games.

1. Starting Point: Bronze Division 3

All players start off at Bronze Division 3. You start understanding ranked play at this point, where the primary goal is to accumulate enough points to get out of Bronze’s elo hell.

2. Earning Points

You earn points, or Elo after winning matches and doing well in various in-game metrics such as objective control, assists, and contribution to the team’s success. You get bonus points for being MVP, streaks, or exceptional performances.

There’s no hard-and-fast rule on how many points you’ll earn per match, but it is typically understood that the better you perform, the more points you will gain.

3. Losing Points

Conversely, losses and poor performance in matches lead to point deductions. Losing points in Marvel Rivals competitive mode can set back your progress. Plus, additional factors like frequent disconnections or leaving matches prematurely can lead to heavier penalties.

4. Promotion

Promotion through the ranks and divisions is achieved as your accumulated points reach a specific threshold. As you move from Silver and Beyond, each division within a rank means a higher level of mastery.

5. Elo System for Top Ranks

For the highest two tiers, a more El-specific style starts coming into play. This is where your performance is measured against the competition’s strength. This system makes sure that only the most skilled and consistent players get to the highest ranks. The top 500 are provided the highest rank, One Above All.

6. Season Rewards

At the end of each season, your highest achieved rank determines the rewards that you receive. These can include rare skins, Honor Crests, and other cosmetic items that showcase your achievements. One of the key items you’ll need to progress quickly in Marvel Rivals is getting Lattice.

When you master how to get Lattice in Marvel Rivals, it can provide additional benefits and speed up your progression.

In-Game Currency and Titles

As you progress in competitive play, you’ll unlock a variety of Marvel Rivals skins. These skins offer unique cosmetic upgrades for your characters. Check out our full guide to Marvel Rivals Skins: Marvel Rivals Skins.

Players can unlock new rewards as they progress and move up towards the ranks. The rewards initially start off from the Gold rank and go all the way up to the highest rank. As of yet, all rank ups beyond Silver give you a unique skin, with higher tiers beyond Diamond giving you a crest as well.

You only get a unique skin at the Gold rank, after which the skins are repeated. So, if you are only after rewards, you technically don’t need to rank up after Gold.

Gold remains the only exception in Season 1, providing you with two skins instead of one. However, you’ll need to have played 10 games in both halves of the season to unlock both skins.

You unlock these items based on the highest rank you achieved throughout the season. So, even if you get demoted from Gold to Bronze, for example, you’ll still get the rewards for reaching the rank.

In terms of the items you get, Skins are cosmetic items that can be applied to a specific character. They are permanent and are not removed from your inventory. Crests, on the other hand, add a little icon on your player card.

As of yet, Marvel Rivals has not confirmed whether the crests will be removed after the season ends, or if we’ll have different crests for every season.

How to Unlock Competitive in Marvel Rivals?

Before unlocking competitive play, it’s important to understand the basics of how to play Marvel Rivals. Once you get the hang of it, you will need to reach Level 10 to unlock competitive in Marvel Rivals.

You can level up in the game by playing any other game mode, including Quick Play. Typically, it takes around 35-50 matches for you to unlock Ranked Mode, depending on how many you win and what your performance is in those matches.

Tips to Excel in Marvel Rivals Ranked Mode

Unlike Casual play, Ranked mode requires you to be a lot more focused and locked in. Here are a few tips we recommend to excel in Marvel Rivals’ Competitive mode:

  • Main Only One Character: While it may seem counter-intuitive, playing one character allows you to understand the nuances of the game, more than you trying to spend time honing their skill sets. Once you get the hang of a character and rank up, you can pivot to different roles and characters as you see fit. But, for starters, stick to just the one.
  • Communicate With Your Team: Marvel Rivals is a team-based shooter. So, unlike first-person shooters like Call of Duty, you can’t do everything yourself. So, when you are playing a specific character with a specific role, make sure to let your team know and communicate timers, abilities, and important objectives with them.
  • Take A Break Between Games: If you are on a loss streak, don’t keep playing until you think you’ll start winning; start slow, and switch up to casual if it doesn’t seem like your games are sticking. You should practice the same even if you win a lot of elo, as a few losses can get you right back to where you started.
  • Don’t Play Alone: While solo warriors might contest with this point, playing with people you know lets you have more fun and also keeps everyone more accountable. With specific roles and characters, you’ll be able to get a lot more elo. Just be aware of the fact that if you play with high-ranked friends, you might get matched into more difficult lobbies.
