Avowed by Obsidian Entertainment Releases in February 2025

Five years after its initial announcement, the long awaited stand-alone first-person fantasy ARPG Avowed is finally here and will be released on Feb. 18, 2025 following early access from November last year.

Avowed shares the world, Eora, with Pillars of Eternity which was released by award-winning game studio Obsidian Entertainment back in 2015. But now players will learn more about the Living Lands region, a mysterious island full of danger and adventure.

So far there have been mixed reviews of the demo version with Gameranx saying on his YouTube channel Before You Buy, that he enjoyed the game but not the story or the characters.

“A lot of the loot, dialogue and RPG systems feel kind of streamlined, in the background, but not necessarily dumbed down. It’s creatively done. The world itself is vibrant and really, really unique,” he said.

“And the combat is fast, more responsive. It’s punchier than it looks and really fun and it encourages you to mix it up.”

The Lore of Avowed

Players will explore the Living Lands, a diverse region within Eora characterized by vibrant forests, arid deserts, expansive caves, and valleys. As an envoy from the Aedyr Empire, the player’s mission is to investigate a mysterious plague known as the “Dream Scourge,” which drives people mad.

Given almost God-like powers, players can mix up how they take on enemies in the game. The dual-wielding system allows players to equip a shield and a gun, use two wands, or 2-handed melee weapons, while casting devastating spells at the same time.

System Requirements And Release

Avowed is supported by NVIDA’s latest 5070 GPU with a faster DLSS 4 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) Frame Generation AI model, which makes the game run smoothly.

Minimum requirements include Windows 10/11 with updates, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel i5-8400 processor, 16 GB RAM, AMD RX 5700, Nvidia GTX 1070, or Intel Arc A580 graphics card, DirectX: Version 12, and 75 GB available space.

The game will only be released on the Xbox series and PC.
