Core Keeper Sees First Major Update With Bags And Blasts

The indie studio behind Core Keeper, Pugstorm announced that the new content, Bags and Blasts, will be available for free from March 10, 2025 and feature a new area, skill tree, quality-of-life improvements, and a boss fight.

Core Keeper is an award-winning multiplayer mining sandbox adventure where players explore ancient caverns, uncover secrets, craft, and survive. The game features procedurally generated worlds and supports up to 8-player co-op.

“Prepare for a monumental fight against Nimruza, Queen of the Burrowed Sands, a gigantic super cicada who makes for a royal challenge in one of Core Keeper’s biggest boss fights yet,” the press release said.

Core Keeper is available now on consoles, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Key Features With The New Content

The scorching sands of the Oasis is a brand-new sub-biome located within the Desert of Beginnings, complete with new resources, vegetation and the camel-like Drohmble. A new skill tree, Explosives, with the new grenades weapon type, allows for new ways to play Core Keeper altogether.

New bomb types like the Void and Blunder can blast through walls or be used to take on some of the toughest enemies in the game.

There’s been a massive inventory overhaul which introduces pouches for a more efficient way of storing and managing player inventory. A new hotbar will make it easier to swap inventory around, while quick stacking lets players sort items into nearby chests.

Appearing for the first time, Nimruza, Queen of the Burrowed Sands, is the game’s biggest boss fight to date. Players can either confront this supersized insect alone or with other online players.

Upcoming Project

Alongside providing fresh content for Core Keeper, Pugstorm is also developing KYORA, a 2D sandbox adventure where players can shape a procedurally generated world through terraforming pixels and engage colossal beings in epic battles.
