Legacy Forge, a two-man studio based in Romania, is set to release its first game ever, Valor of Man, later in 2025. But fans of turn-based combat and roguelikes can already get a glimpse of the game in a recently released demo for PC.
The demo gives players the chance to test out the first chapter. It includes multiple replayability features, such as 150 unlockable skills and procedurally-generated dungeons.
“As well as being feature-packed, this demo is no lightweight when it comes to content. As you delve into the demo gameplay, you can experience the full first chapter of the game with four hero classes,” a company press release said.
Roguelike Mechanics
Lead the avatar of destruction, Alistair, as he carves a path through over 10 normal enemy types. The demo also gives players the chance to fight six elite enemies and three bosses across 16 encounters.
Thanks to dynamic map generation, enemy encounters are randomised every time so no two playthroughs are exactly the same.
This also applies to enemy behavior: Valor of Man introduces a unique Reactions system, wherein enemies have their own distinct mechanics and patterns. Battles can evolve into deeply tactical maneuvers as enemies switch-up their behaviour in exciting emergent gameplay.
Multiple Character Classes
Choose from four archetypal classes (Warrior, Mage, Ranger and Healer) as you control Alistair on the start of his journey. Each comes with a robust skill tree that can be upgraded in a variety of ways, further adding to the replay value.
Test out combinations of 120 character abilities. Unlock and equip 70 powerful artifacts to blast your way through skeletal dragons, brutish ogres and other fearsome monsters. Player skills can even be used to disable enemy actions and abilities, opening up encounters in new and unexpected ways.
A Taste of Things to Come
Play through the first complete chapter in the demo, with any progress carrying over into the full release later in 2025. Valor of Man is set to include three chapters, 12 character classes, 250 hero skills, over 60 enemy types, 250 items and 120 magical artifacts.
All of these can be mixed and matched in a compelling narrative in which Alistair seeks to stop the Perpetual Cycle of life and death. The full release also includes 10 Valor (difficulty) levels, so gameplay can be further tweaked to players’ preferred style.
Players have already left positive comments on various forums, praising Valor of Man’s strategic depth and “just one more turn” gameplay.
