New Lemokey Gaming Keyboard Smashes Kickstarter Goal And Reveals Release Date

Lemokey is a gaming brand of the noted keyboard company Keychron, and the Lemokey L5 HE 8K is its latest magnetic keyboard. It recently soared past its Kickstarter goal of $10,000 and is set for an initial release in May 2025.

Lemokey is billing the L5 HE 8K as the ultimate magnetic gaming keyboard, and it shares a lot of features the company is known for, such as being highly customizable and precision engineered. 

“Want lightning-fast reactions? Set keys for feather-light touches. Want to avoid accidentally tapping a key and messing up your movement? Set up a deeper press requirement—all with 0.01mm precision,” the company said on the L5 HE 8K Kickstarter page.

More Customization Than an Episode of Pimp My Ride

It’s now more common for gaming peripherals and accessories to have more fancy parts than a custom lowrider. Lemokey states that the L5 HE 8K has maximum customizability, so gamers who like to fine-tune all aspects of a keyboard can roll their sleeves up and tinker under the hood to their heart’s content.

It’s possible to activate and deactivate keys based on travel distance, easily switch between top and gasket mounts, and switch to Analog Mode for variable inputs. The keys themselves are hot-swappable and use magnetic switches for enhanced input control.

“Thanks to one key four actions feature, you can assign up to 4 unique actions to a single key, triggered by different press depths,” Lemokey said. The company also highlighted one of many additional key features: “With LKP (Last Keystroke Prioritization) enabled, you can now seamlessly change directions without having to release the previous key.”

Color Schemes And Compatibility

Lemokey are releasing three color schemes: Cyber (green accents and transparent keys), Dark Master (red and black) and Dawn Master (white and gold). All are also available in either an ANSI (US) or ISO (UK, Germany, Nordic) layout, with ANSI L5 HE 8Ks expected to start shipping in May 2025. ISOs should be available the following month.

Each features a robust aluminium body and north-facing RGB lighting. This, and the key presses, can be tweaked via the included Lemokey Launcher Web App. The keyboard is wired and compatible with Windows and Mac.
