New Studio Opus Major Wants The World to Jam Together

Originally founded in January 2023, Opus Major just received a $10 million seed investment by Griffin Gaming Partners and venture capital firm Alven, one of the original investors in Opus Major, to announce its official opening.
The new studio is well underway with its first game and while details remain largely under wraps, the founders of Opus Major hinted that it could be opened for testing in 2025, and that it’s a multiplayer where the world is saved thanks to the power of music.
“Our original spark came from a simple idea: can we bring them both together and build a great social adventure where music is magic,” the shared founders said in a joint press release. “A multiplayer game where you could form a band of heroes with your friends and save the world through the power of music.”
About The New Studio
Opus Major is based in Paris, France, and according to its mission statement the creativity in the studio stems from the staff’s keen interest in music. Their intention is to fuse music and gaming to create musical adventures.
Co-founders Jean-Nicolas Vernin and Pierre- Armand Nicq are veterans with diverse backgrounds in the gaming industry. Vernin is more specialized on mobile games and has worked on titles like the Asphalt Series, Might and Magic II, and the Wii version of TV Show King.
Technical artistry in game development is where Nicq comes into his own. In 2016 he co-authored a detailed guide on 3D modeling with Blender. He has also worked on the game Pix the Cat and various projects for Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab.
“Our mission at Opus Major is to make the world jam together. We have experienced countless joyful memories while playing music and video games with friends,” Vernin and Nicq said jointly in the press release.
According to the press release, they plan to create worlds where creativity flourishes in a universe that resonates across multiple mediums.
