Retroid Pocket Flip 2 Announced

Although the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck might be well-known handheld consoles, there are companies out there making their own versions that are proving just as popular, especially for the retro market. Retroid is one such company and it’s just revealed its latest device, the Pocket Flip 2.
The Pocket Flip 2 comes with a range of features, including some quality of life improvements such as customized joystick hats with anti-slip texture, and a lanyard hole for easy transportation. Although Retroid hasn’t released the full specs for the Pocket Flip 2 yet, it has been vocal on social media as to what users can expect.
“Huge HUGE upgrade from the OG Flip,” Retroid said on its official X account, in response to comments about how much of an improvement the Flip 2 is from its predecessor.
Handheld Redesign
One thing Retroid has not been shy about is the actual overall design of the Pocket Flip 2. As well as Hall Effect joysticks, which have swapped places with the d-pad and buttons compared to the original Flip, this version also comes with Hall Effect analogue triggers.
Hall Effect refers to how the sticks/triggers use magnets and electrical conductors rather than parts that physically touch. In short, this means players won’t experience unresponsive controls, like stick drift, when playing games.
The Pocket Flip 2 also includes a reinforced hinge design with 180 degree full motion and a 150 degree click stop hinge, so there’s less chance of it accidentally snapping.
Retroid also revealed it comes with active cooling, TF (TransFlash) card and 3.5mm audio jack ports, and an OLED screen for sharper graphics and prolonged battery life.
Play Retro And Modern Games
As for the games you can play on the Pocket Flip 2, Retroid handhelds come with custom firmware, and they also allow the installation of emulators. This means players can play a wide variety of classic titles such as Halo 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog, as well as modern mobile games such as Diablo Immortal.
