Retroid Reveal New Pocket Classic

Retroid revealed a handheld just two weeks ago, but the company is already at it again with another new device, the Pocket Classic, which it announced on X (Twitter) on March 5, 2025. Followers on X and Discord were recently given specs on the upcoming Classic, including a good look at available colors.

The Pocket Classic follows hot on the heels of a previously revealed Pocket Flip 2 handheld, but where that device was closer to the Nintendo DS in design, the Pocket Classic is styled after the original GameBoy, including a retro off-white color scheme.

Despite the revealed details, followers on the company’s Discord have been discussing what they’d still like to hear about. “Still no full specs? So what are the odds this will be touchscreen?” and “Given that it’s running Android, I’d say odds are very, very good,” are examples of popular comments.

Tech Specs

What Retroid have revealed so far is that the Pocket Classic has a 3.92 inch, 1240 x 1080 screen. No word yet on whether this will be OLED, but as this has been used in other Retroid devices it’s a pretty safe bet the Classic will use this too. The Classic uses Android 14 and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

As with other Retroid handhelds, the Classic uses Active Cooling and includes a TF card reader, so users can load it up with their own ROMs. However, it’s certainly one of the smallest and lightest handhelds Retroid has in its collection, at just 138mm high, 89.6mm wide, 26mm slim, and a teeny 223g in weight.

Easy on The Eye

The Pocket Classic features a d-pad and four face buttons, plus four triggers on the back.  There’s also a six-button version available, the appropriately-named Classic 6, for those who like more options when it comes to button-bashing their way through their favourite retro games.

As is always the case with its handhelds, Retroid revealed a choice of eye-catching colors too. There are seven in total, ranging from a transparent purple to a relatively lurid blue and yellow scheme with the Classic 6 being the only one available in retro off-white.
